Nool began in 2019 with four bolts of handloom cotton and a stall in Galle Fort. We buy directly from weavers in Matara, Kandy and Jaffna, pay per metre rather than per order, and cut small runs in Colombo.

We sell fabric by the metre because most of what we make starts as cloth on a table. The garments are the same cloth, cut and finished — not a separate range with a separate story.

Nothing here is mass produced. Shade and slub vary between bolts, and a sold-out piece usually means the loom has not finished the next run.
